One of the most controversial amendments to the US Constitution and the most insidious when it comes to wealth has to be the Sixteenth Amendment. The Sixteenth Amendment reads, “The Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without appointment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration.” (1) The amendment was ratified on 3 February 1913.
